About Sarah Naylor 〰️
Hi. I’m Sarah and l am a counsellor and psychotherapist who has a specialist interest and experience in parenting difficulties and the challenges of family life. Half of my week l also work as a Health Visitor, a role l have worked in for the past 13 years.
I am a mum to 2 children, and my passion and interest has been influenced by my own experiences of becoming a parent and through my role as a Health Visitor. I experienced anxiety, depression and burnout in my own motherhood journey and there were definite challenges and moments which did not live up to the media image of ‘perfect family life’.
Therapy quite literally transformed my life! I began to understand what and why l felt the way l did, and most importantly began to realise that it was not my fault. This insight empowered me to grow and nurture compassion for myself.
Qualifications & experience
I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University as well as in Health Visiting. I am registered with the BACP (membership number 01002789) and NMC.
I am a member of the Compassionate Mind Foundation and have completed additional education and courses in Compassion Focused Therapy, and specifically on how this helps in the perinatal period.
I am an accredited practitioner with the Foundation for Infant Loss and have undergone training to work with people suffering baby or child loss or difficulties around having a Rainbow baby.
How I Work
I am a relational and integrative therapist. This basically means that l value our relationship and work in an individualised way that works for you because l understand that we are all uniquely different. I use different elements to work in a way that will be most effective for you. Often this may involve understanding the situation and our bodies reactions, and nurturing compassion for yourself and others.
Some people have a clearly defined goal and require short term therapy while others may experience a feeling of unrest without a clear focus and may wish to access longer term open ended therapy. If you are unsure then do not hesitate to get in touch for a chat because l offer a free 20 minute introductory call.
