About Claire 〰️

Do you feel like you're not yourself since having a baby? Maybe you've found anxiety creeping in and you're searching for answers online over everything? Maybe you suddenly find rage building up inside you and you can't contain it? Or perhaps motherhood just isn't what you expected and you're riddled with guilt for questioning your life choices?

As well as a therapist who specialises in the postnatal period, I'm a mum to two young children who struggled with postnatal depression and anxiety after having my first child. It took me a long time to reach out for help, I was irritable, prone to bursts of rage, I cried when I was by myself and plastered an 'I'm okay face' on when I wasn't.

Going for therapy was the best thing I ever did, it lifted the debilitating weight on my shoulders and slowly but surely I started to understand why I felt how I did. Today I know what I need to be able to enjoy life and motherhood, I know who I am, my values and am more relaxed and fun with my children as a result. This is why I specialise in postnatal counselling, because I want the same for you too.

Therapy sessions with me, whether online or in person, give you space to organise your thoughts, release your feelings, work out what is keeping you stuck in this place, and discover what you need to move forward.

Qualifications & experience

My qualification is in Relational Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (PGDip). All this means is that our relationship is at the heart of the work we do together and I use a mix of therapy types in our sessions.

I am a specialist in the postpartum period and have completed a range of further training and experience in the following areas:

- postnatal anxiety and depression

- working with birth trauma

- grief in motherhood

- understanding and reducing anger

I am a fully insured and registered member of the BACP which means I adhere to their ethical framework at all times.

How I Work

Therapy with me is about giving you space to air your thoughts and feelings. It's about feeling seen and heard. We are made up of so many different parts and sometimes we have conflicting voices as a result. We might know something is not logical or rational and yet part of us just keeps returning to it.

We explore this together, giving voice to those parts and working out the role they play. Every part of us is important and trying to shut the parts down we don't like only makes them louder.

As an integrative therapist I tailor our sessions to you. You may want to be heard and understood, you may desire tools and strategies to find calm and connection in life or perhaps you don’t really know what you would like and seek a bit more direction from a therapist. We work together to make our sessions work for you.

In our sessions, I not only sit with you as a professional but also as a mum to young children who understands the depths that you can sink to. In life, we're often trying to hold everything, hold everyone else and contain our emotions so we can just keep going and that is so hard to maintain.

Therapy with me lets you offload these things that are weighing on your shoulders.

I work online and in person. Most of my clients prefer to attend weekly though there are no set number of sessions. You attend for the number you feel you need, you are always in control.

Specialist Areas

I specialise in the postnatal period, though 'postnatal' is so much longer than we're led to believe, with research showing the process of postpartum and becoming a mum can take around 7 years.

Most commonly my clients are first time mums who are struggling with anxiety, low mood (or depression), anger or an overall loss of identity.

Fees

£65/50 min session (weekly therapy)

£75/60 min or £112/90 minute (one off session which new mums often find helpful for understanding intrusive thoughts or for support in processing their birth story)

You can book a free 20 minute initial call with Claire here:

https://calendly.com/clairejuddtherapy

This gives you an opportunity to get a feel for me, to ask any questions you might have and for us to discuss what is bringing you to therapy.

If you feel ready to make an appointment at the end of this free call we will, though there is no obligation to do so. The most important thing is that you find the right therapist for you.
