About Jessica 〰️

I'm Jess. I am a psychotherapist with over a decade of experience of working within mental health. I am also a mum of two young children.

In recent years, after seeing the impact that pregnancy and parenthood can have on so many areas of life; from mental health, to identity, to general routine, I wanted to help others to navigate this.

During my recent second maternity leave and through conversations with other therapists, I have also witnessed services (including therapy) being really difficult to access for new parents. I am now actively involved in trying to encourage therapists and other health professionals to be adaptive and available to expectant and new parents. This means being able to bring babies to sessions when needed and making sure that things that I encourage between sessions is actually feasible and fits with your routine and parenting approach.

I have a lot of training in things like tokophobia, birth trauma and perinatal OCD, which helps me to navigate a number of common difficulties that I see in my clients who are parents and parents to be.

Qualifications & experience

I have an undergraduate degree in psychology, a masters in cognitive brain imaging, and a postgraduate diploma in cognitive behavioural psychotherapies. I also undertake a lot of CPD in areas relating to my specialisms and am EMDR trained.

BABCP number 170089.

How I Work

I offer a one off 'assessment' session with people following an intro call. In this, I ask for a background to what you are looking for help with, what you are struggling with now, and what you would like to work towards. By the end of the session, I give you an idea of how we might work on this together. All sessions are collaborative and within your control, we will pick apart what is going on to cause and maintain what you are struggling with, and then figure out a way to help you towards your goals. I am baby friendly and adaptive, if you need to bring your little one to some sessions then we can work around this too.

Specialist Areas

My specialisms are all things perinatal, including pregnancy anxiety, birth trauma, tokophobia, postnatal anxiety and depression. I also work a lot with parents with young children in general on rebuilding identity and self-esteem. My other area of specialty is obsessive compulsive disorder, including perinatal OCD.

Fees

£90 for an hour 1-1 session.

Email Jess now for a free 15 minute call before any assessment sessions.
